I have spent a lot of time on a certain message board dedicated to pregnancy. After each loss I found my way to the pregnancy loss message boards and have found an amazing amount of support and love from those women. Most recently, after Ella Grace was born still, the women on that board started an amazing "tradition." I don't know exactly who the first woman to start it was (please, if any of you know, leave a comment so I can give her the credit), but when these amazing women take vacations or trips and find themselves near a beach (or even a lake or stream) they take the time to write our babies names in the sand. They then share these pictures of our babies names with us. It is the most touching act. It is a reminder that our babies have left a mark on this world and it is allowing our babies to "go" places that we never got the chance to take them. I know that for someone who has never lost a baby it probably doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but to me, it bring tears to my eyes each time I think about a "stranger" taking the time to write our sweet Ella Grace's name in the sand. I think about her being there with them and getting to see a beach or river that I will never get the chance to splash in with her! And it touches my heart. I am so grateful to these women. I have been collecting them and saving them and someday when I find the right frame or inspiration, I am going to make a collage of all of the different pictures of our "Ella Grace" all over the world! Here is the latest pictures that I just received today. It was taken at St. Augustine Beach, FL. Thank you!!

Awww that is so precious! Makes me teary. I love the idea and I love the ocean/beach like no other. I know that you must enjoy receiving these beautiful images. I'm so happy that you have met such wonderful people along your difficult path.
Oh my goodness, that's beautiful! I'm glad you shared this with me because I live in Florida. Next time I'm at a beach, I'll do this and send you a picture... and I'll pass along the word to friends and family.
C, Yes, I am so blessed to not only have met such a great support system through blogging, but also through the message board also! It's truly amazing how God has put the right people in my path! He sure knows what He is doing!
Katie! That's would be amazing! Thank you SO SO much!! Wow!! And let me just say how jealous I am that you live near a beach...I am SO far away from any beaches here in East Texas!
now that is just Beautiful, what a wonderful way to celebrate any life that is lost. I write "Daddy" or "Damien" in the sand whenever we travel, in the same way.
it's just gorgeous, a collage of all ofthese would be perfect.
DaisyGal, I don't really have any pictures of Ella Grace to "decorate" with so I thought that this would be a fantastic way to incorporate her into our home a little more...since she is so heavily intertwinted into our hearts!
That's so touching and amazing, even those of us that can't understand the pain can understand the healing that each one of these photos much provide you.
What a neat idea. How sweet of everyone to send you the pictures.
Oak, you are so right! I think that healing and pain are both universal! We all experience it (even though it may all have a different dialect) at some point.
Rach, Thanks for stopping by! Yes, these are some incredible women indeed!
how beautiful and special :)
I always love seeing Christian's name in the sand, snow or any other medium, as it validates his life and makes me smile :)
As for who started this, I am not certain, but the most famous sand writer is Carleigh Marie Dudley, mother of Christian, and she does the most beautiful writing in the sand on Christian's beach in Australia. www.namesinthesand.blogspot.com
Carleigh's work is amazing, as is she!
Lifting you up today as always,
xoxo
Andrea
